Geraldine Porter, a recently retired high school English teacher in a small northern California town, teaches miniature crafts at a retirement home. When one of her elder students is accused of murder, Gerry and her 10-year-old granddaughter are drawn into the investigation. By the time the week is over, the team will have dealt with blackmail, fraud, murder, and hostilities that stretch back two decades.
