Julie Lomoe brings a wealth of professional mental health and
home health care experience to her novels. Her work as an art
therapist at a psychiatric hospital inspired her to turn to
fiction as a creative outlet. She founded and ran ElderSource,
Inc., a Licensed Home Care Services Agency, where she filled in
frequently as an aide. She is a vocal advocate for the rights of
mentally ill consumers. For Julie, mystery writing is a way of
exploring social issues she feels passionately about.
A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Barnard College, Julie received an MFA in painting from Columbia University and an MA in art therapy from New York University. She lived in SoHo for many years, exhibiting at the Museum of Modern Art, the 1969 Woodstock Festival, and many Manhattan Galleries. She did the cover illustrations for both her novels. She is also a poet and jazz pianist.
Julie lives in upstate New York with her husband, Robb Smith, and her cats, Lunesta and Beep. She is a member of the Mavens of Mayhem, a chapter of Sisters in Crime.
