Deputy Tempe Crabtree realizes what looks like the death from natural causes may be murder and what looks like a murder may not be. In order to find out the truth in both cases, she must investigate without the sanction of the sheriff's department, risking her job, and uses Native American mysticism to call back the dead, risking her minister husband's ire.
