A candidate for princess is murdered at a Native American Pow Wow while Tempe Crabtree is working there in her capacity of deputy sheriff. Tempe's investigation takes her onto the Yanduchi reservation. Her pastor husband has difficulty with Tempe's growing interest in her heritage as she seeks the identity of the killer.
