Jason Wilder is just about to close up the private investigation office owned by his mother, Victoria, when a strange, elderly man enters. He says his name is Elijah Messenger and that he has had a premonition that someone is going to kill him. Jason gives the man the polite brush-off but learns the very next morning that the old man has indeed been murdered. On top of that, Jason finds the mayor in his mother's office: his daughter had become involved with Messenger's 'devil worshippers' and is now the prime murder suspect and is on the run from the law. Victoria turns the case of finding the mayor's daughter over to Jason, but as always, she'll keep a maternal (and critical) eye on her son.
