MYSTERY
code of silence
Code Of Silence, the sixth Ben Reese mystery, opens in 1947 when
a female linguist at Arlington Hall, a real-life high-security
US decoding and decrypting facility, is murdered while trying to
relay vital information to a high ranking intelligence official.
Ten years later, Ben Reese, a university archivist who'd been a
behind-the-lines scout in WWII, is asked to track a murderer
who's breached US security. An inflicted injury makes Ben's
mission more dangerous and disturbing, but he's willing to keep
his life on the line, once he learns of a Soviet code partially
decrypted by the US and Britain, and sees its implications.
Code Of Silence is based on actual materials first found by US
historians in Russia's KGB archives in the early 1990s, and a
subsequent series of revelations from the US National Security
Administration.
