As a former Adult Probation Officer, Criminal Defense and Family Law Attorney, and Texas District Court Judge, Susan P. Baker writes of what she knows. Susan is a member of Sisters in Crime, Private Eye Writers of America, Authors Guild, Texas Writers League, and Mystery Writers of America (of which she is a former chapter president). She is a frequent speaker not only on writing but on court security and family law.

If Susan's books seem to reflect a certain familiarity with the Texas gulf coast, the reason is that Susan was born in Houston and raised in Galveston where she practiced law and presided over the 306th District Court. She and her husband now live in Galveston. Next to writing, Susan loves traveling best, especially to the United Kingdom where her mother was born, San Miguel de Allende, Mexico where she and John have recently purchased a second home, and the other 49 U.S. states. She is the mother of 2 daughters, grandmother of 7 children.
