Barbara
is the producer/director of Mystery on the Menu Inc. an
interactive theater company she founded in Washington, DC, in
1986. Since that time the company has presented plays for
thousands of corporate and private events; the plays take place at
hotel, resorts, dinner theaters, private homes, mansions, wineries
and aboard cruise ships, trains and busses. Mystery on the Menu
was one of the first companies to present participatory mysteries
aboard both luxury private trains and Amtrak.
Barbara writes all of the plays and acts in most of them. themes of the plays include shooting a movie, political conventions, family reunions, talent contests, corporate take-overs and many others and there are special shows for holidays, birthdays and other celebrations. Barbara will customize scripts for clients and even write entire new shows for them
Theater companies and other organizations often lease her scripts for their own productions.
Barbara recently developed One Woman mysteries with audience participation which she presents on cruise ships and for seminars, meetings, women's groups, libraries and community centers.
She has written several one act plays and was a finalist in three Florida contests; the plays received stage readings.
Barbara became so fond of some of the characters in her mystery plays that she decided to write a mystery novel featuring them. Murder In the Inn was published in 2002 and the sequel, Another Murder In the Inn, in 2005.
Barbara is a native of Chicago; she and her family (husband and four children) lived in Washington, DC, (the setting for the Inn novels) for several years. She and her husband recently moved to Miami Beach where she says she lives a "vacation life."
When she isn't writing or acting Barbara likes to line dance, swim, read, go to the theater and to "chick flick" movies. She is also beginning to think about another Inn mystery, this time set in Florida.
