Ellen
Byerrum is a Washington, D.C., news reporter, playwright (under
her pen name Eliot Byerrum), and novelist, the creator of the
Crime of Fashion mystery series. She also holds a private
investigator's registration in the state of Virginia. Her Crime
of Fashion mysteries star a savvy sleuth with a keen sense of
style: Lacey Smithsonian. Lacey is a reluctant fashion reporter
in Washington, "the city fashion forgot." Her job qualifications
include a nose for nuance, a knack for unraveling mysteries, and
a wardrobe full of fabulous Forties suits and killer heels. Her
exasperating fashion beat entangles her in surprising adventures
in which she stumbles upon fashion clues, fabulous shoes,
tempting (and infuriating) men, and of course the occasional
interestingly attired dead body...
Ms. Byerrum and her stylish heroine share a fondness for vintage fashion and a balcony overlooking the Potomac River, but, alas, their beloved Nissan 280ZX is now just a memory. The Crime of Fashion series began with Killer Hair and continues with Designer Knockoff and Hostile Makeover.
