AMATEUR SLEUTH/ HISTORICAL/HUMOR/
PRIVATE INVESTIGATOR/
SENIOR SLEUTH/SOFT-BOILED MYSTERY
ONE FOR THE MONEY
Suspicion is second nature to any woman who's raised three kids.

In ONE FOR THE MONEY, 59-year-old widow Catherine Caliban, tired of waiting around for the Change of Life, decides to make her own change: she sells her house in suburban Cincinnati, buys an apartment building, and begins training to be a detective. She has barely begun her lessons in breaking and entering, however, when she discovers a corpse in the empty apartment upstairs. To the horror of her stockbroker daughter, she enters the world of Cincinnati's street people to investigate the murder, and follows a thread that leads back to Hollywood's silent era.
