Dorothy Francis
Dorothy Francis was born and raised in the Midwest and graduated Cum Laude from University of Kansas with a major in music.  She traveled with an all girl orchestra before teaching public school music in California, Oklahoma, and Iowa.

Francis started her book writing career by writing easy-to-read books for the educational market.  Sixteen of these from Perfection Learning in Logan, Iowa remain in print.

Francis also writes mystery short stories and the Short Mystery Fiction Society awarded her a Derringer Award in 1999 for "When in Rome" published by Murderous Intent Mystery Magazine.

Mystery novels are her favorites for both reading and writing and in addition to the two novels published in 2003 and 2005, Thorndike Press has reprinted 10 of her older mysteries in large print.

When Francis and her husband, Richard began spending their winters in the Florida Keys, she knew she had to write about that area.  So she did.  And still does.

She is a member of MWA, SinC, and SMFS.
